"When my wife and I started our search for a Financial Advisor, I worked as an automotive engineer for over 30 years. "An unexpected death, anxiety, a funeral to execute with my family, and my financial health to tackle alone. Since my spouse took care ofthe bills, taxes and the retirement accounts, I was thankful that we had a binder and an "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) list of who to call if one (or both) of us were to pass. As much as this list helped with personal and our work contacts, life insurance and account numbers, it did not clearly identify where to engage the bank accounts, investments, CD's and retirement benefits. My sister recommended True North Advisors and Ronnie Thompson.
With some reluctance, I called and made my first appointment with Mr. Thompson. I brought the binder of documents that my husband had kept of statements, bank records, 401K, IRA and tax information. In my state of mind, I was hoping my sister's recommendation would be my life raft as I was drowning in a sea of grief.
When I entered the True North office, I was greeted, walked into the conference room and was offered a refreshment. The meeting started on time with introductions. Ronnie met with me and another experienced advisor of the firm, Steve. The first meeting was emotional for me, but Ronnie and Steve took the time to explain to me what they do and how they may be able to help. The binder opened, papers were sorted and discussed. With my permission, they were copied for electronic files. I was immediately impressed with Ronnie and Steve as pure professionals, genuinely interested in helping me organize these accounts to yield the highest value for my future. As expected, I was needed to help verify information to banks, etc. Ronnie has and continues to construct my future just as my husband and I were planning for retirement. He offered options on a plan, educated me on the definition of each plan and benefits. He explained how True North is paid, and how much he loves his job. If you have ever heard to trust your gut, I can honestly say I felt I could trust Ronnie, Steve and all the staff of True North Advisors. They truly want you to succeed.
